Bigger is definitely better for Vertex!

Back at the MACH 2018 show at the NEC in Birmingham, Vertex Engineering Solutions in Birmingham signed on the dotted line and ordered the enormous and very impressive DMGMori DMF260|11 travelling column 5-axis vertical machining centre, and a CTX 3-axis turning centre to aid with its growing order book.

Before taking delivery in 2019, Vertex expanded into the adjoining unit to house the new machines, bringing the size of the site in Birmingham to over 1000sqm. New huge roller shutter doors were installed and concrete bases for the new machines were laid before finally knocking through into the existing facility.

The DMF260|11 VMC has a centre partition for pendulum loading, to keep the spindle working flat out 24/7! It also hosts a massive 3.2m long table with integrated rotary table and a huge Y-axis travel of 1.1m.  The versatility of the machine means that Vertex can now machine large tombstone fixtures faster and more accurately than ever before, and also quickly change over to machine complex prototype and low-volume production components.

In addition to the machining centre, the DMGMori CTX CNC turning centre adds a new dimension to the capabilities at Vertex, with its driven tool turret for both 2- and 3-axis turning.

Vertex Engineering Solutions is part of the Autocraft Solutions Group, headquartered in Grantham, Lincolnshire. Vertex specialises in fixture design and manufacture, prototype machining from solid and castings, low volume and complex machined components, 5-axis machining of large and wide components, 3-axis CNC turning, manufacture of Moulds and Dies and Spark Erosion (EDM).
